‘microdose’ is the debut release from brand new Syndey-based project, total tommy. The track oozes with the influence of grunge and indie, but is presented in a sonic world that feels almost lo-fi. Insistent rhythms pound from the distorted guitar during the track’s addictive chorus, while the restrained verses feel atmospheric and hazy. On the genesis of total tommy, she says: “Parts of my brain got unlocked that I’d never been able to tap into before, and with that I quickly got to learn a lot about who I was. I partied so much with new queer friends, fell in love, made mistakes, and wrote music to make sense of it all.” Expect more from total tommy, who has signed for [PIAS] Recordings, this year. -Dan Peeke
